LRC Maker - Time Lyrics to a Song

Load a song, paste the lyrics and tap the moment each line begins. Preview it karaoke-style, then export an .lrc (or .srt) file with title, artist and length tags. Everything stays on your device.

Tap along to the song and export a synced lyrics file. The audio and lyrics never leave your device.

How a synced lyrics file works

An LRC file is plain text. Each lyric line begins with a timestamp in minutes, seconds and fractions of a second, and a player jumps to that line when the song reaches that time. The format is simple enough to open in any text editor, which is why the same file works in car stereos, phone music apps, desktop players and karaoke software. Before the lines there can be header tags that describe the song, such as the title and the artist.

This tool builds that file from your own taps. You paste the words, press play and mark the moment each line starts. The page records the playback time at each tap, so the result is only as precise as your reaction, and the editing controls exist to tighten it. You can undo the last tap, nudge a line by a tenth of a second and slow the audio down while you work.

Tapping well

Listen through once before you start. Knowing where verses and choruses begin means you can tap in anticipation, a fraction early, rather than react to the first syllable. At 0.75x or 0.5x playback, fast lyrics are much easier to catch, and the timestamps are still correct for normal speed because they follow the position in the song, not the clock.

Keep lines short. A player highlights one line at a time, so a line that runs for twenty syllables is hard to read in time. Split long phrases at natural breaths and give each its own row. After the pass, use the karaoke-style preview to watch the highlight move and fix any line that arrives early or late with the nudge buttons. If everything is off by the same amount, the global offset corrects all of it at once.

Tags, formats and fixing old files

The header tags are optional, but they help library apps recognise the file: [ti] for the title, [ar] for the artist, [al] for the album, [by] for who made the file, and [length] for the duration of the song. Timestamps can be written with centiseconds ([01:23.45]), the most widely supported form, or with milliseconds ([01:23.456]) when your player reads them. If your player seems to ignore the file, make sure it has the same base name as the audio file and uses plain UTF-8 text.

Importing an existing .lrc lets you fix timing rather than start over. Lines that carry several timestamps are handled, and word-level tags are stripped so the output stays line-based. The same timing can be exported as .srt for video subtitles. Because the draft is stored in this browser, use the same device and browser to continue, and export the file when you are done to keep a copy.

LRC format reference

The tags and timestamp styles this tool reads and writes.

[mm:ss.xx]Line timestamp in centiseconds, the most widely supported form. Example: [01:23.45].
[mm:ss.xxx]Line timestamp in milliseconds, for players that read the third digit.
[ti:]Song title.
[ar:]Artist.
[al:]Album.
[by:]Who created the LRC file.
[length:]Song duration, written from the loaded audio.
Word-level tagsPer-word timestamps in enhanced LRC; stripped when you import a file.
Global offsetShifts every timestamp by the same amount to fix a consistent early or late tap.
Tap controlsSpace or Enter, or the Tap button. Undo, nudge plus or minus 0.1 s, playback at 0.5x or 0.75x.
Export.lrc for music players, .srt for video subtitles.

How to Make an LRC File

Three steps from lyrics to a synced file

1

Load the song and the lyrics

Choose an audio file from your device and paste the lyrics, one line per row. Nothing is uploaded; the audio plays locally.

Tips: Break lyrics into short lines first. A line is the unit that gets one timestamp, so shorter lines look better in a player.

2

Play and tap each line

Press play, then hit Space or Enter, or the big Tap button, exactly when each line starts. Undo a mistake, nudge a line by 0.1 s, or slow playback to 0.75x or 0.5x for fast verses.

Tips: Tap a fraction before you hear the line, not after it. Reaction time makes most taps late by 100 to 200 ms.

3

Preview and export

Check the result in the karaoke-style preview. Fill in title, artist, album and creator, add a global offset if the whole file is early or late, and export as .lrc or .srt.

Tips: Your draft is saved in this browser, so you can close the tab and continue later on the same device.

LRC Maker Questions

Timing, tags, importing and what is stored.

A plain-text lyrics file where each line starts with a timestamp in square brackets, such as [01:23.45] followed by the words. Music players use it to scroll and highlight lyrics in time with the song. Most apps look for an .lrc file with the same name as the audio file.
No. The audio is loaded from your device and played in the page, and the lyrics and timings are processed in your browser. A draft is kept in your browser so you can continue later; it is not sent anywhere.
Listen to the song once first, then tap at the start of each sung line, a hair before the first word. If a section is fast, switch to 0.75x or 0.5x playback. Afterwards use the nudge buttons (plus or minus 0.1 s) on a line that is off, and check the whole file in the preview.
If every line is early or late by about the same amount, for example because you always tapped late, apply one offset to the whole file instead of moving each line. Positive and negative values shift all timestamps together.
Title, artist, album and creator ([ti], [ar], [al], [by]) can be filled in, and a [length] tag is written from the song's duration. Choose centisecond timestamps ([mm:ss.xx]) for the widest compatibility or millisecond timestamps ([mm:ss.xxx]) if your player supports them.
Yes. Import it, adjust the lines that are off and export again. Lines with more than one timestamp, which are used for repeated choruses, are read, and word-level tags (the ones that time individual words) are removed so each line is left with a simple timestamp.
The tool also exports an .srt file with the same timings, which video editors and players can load as subtitles. SRT stores a start and an end time for each line, so it is a quick starting point for subtitles.
